The Origin of My Nickname
Hey everyone, it’s Cody.
It’s been a while since I made a personal homepage, and this is my first blog post.
Today I’d like to talk about the origin of my name.
Actually, my friends used to call me “こーたん” (a cute Japanese nickname).
In my 20s and 30s, when I was still young, I didn’t think much of it. But now it’s 2026, I’m in my mid-forties approaching fifty, and it became quite embarrassing for a middle-aged man to call himself “こーたん.” Also, as I started YouTube and with an eye toward reaching English-speaking audiences in the future, I changed it to “Cody.”
That’s the origin of my name.
I know it’s a bit late, but many of you might now be connecting the dots: “Oh! ‘Cody’ was ‘こーたん’!” LOL
I did start my YouTube activities rather quietly without making a big announcement.
Now, on this personal homepage, I want to return to my roots in a sense - a place to freely share my random thoughts, experiments, and ideas without anyone interfering. With the development of the internet, social media, YouTube, and various technologies, many things have become more convenient. At the same time, I’ve started to feel constrained in freely jotting down my thoughts somewhere (like when something I posted as a personal memo gets embellished by others and spreads in unexpected ways).
And also, I’m simply curious: what would happen if I set aside pre-AI ways of thinking, working, and creating, and rebuilt everything with AI as the premise, using AI as much as possible?
I run a small company, but even so, it’s difficult to suddenly replace all operations with AI-first approaches. It still makes more sense to start small with anything new.
I originally entered this industry entirely self-taught - starting by learning HTML tags and trying to build bulletin boards with CGI. So I thought I’d start from there (meaning, trying to create what I made back then, but now). I figured a personal homepage would be the quickest way to experience how things come together using modern technology and AI.
Building one again after such a long time was truly an enjoyable process. For this personal site, of course, I didn’t write a single line of code. Architecture selection, cost simulation, and actual programming - I just picked and chose from what the AI proposed.
This is a completely different approach from traditional development, and it’s refreshing and incredibly fun. I’m planning to release various prototypes, so please look forward to them.
So, please support this personal homepage too!
